The Plomley Foundation was established in 1984 by the late Brian Plomley, a former Director of the QVMAG from 1946 to 1950 and from the early 1980s until his death in 1994, an Honorary Research Associate at QVMAG.

Since its establishment the Foundation has supported a wide variety of research projects on various aspects of Tasmania’s natural and cultural heritage. A particular focus of the Foundation has been Tasmanian Aboriginal history, a major research interest of Brian Plomley.

For those involved in Tasmanian research the Plomley Foundation offers a Research Grants program.
