The QVMAG is located on two key Launceston sites: the 1870s era railway workshop at Inveresk; and the 1891 Royal Park Art Gallery building on Wellington Street.

The Museum and Art Gallery are open 10am to 4pm daily (closed Good Friday and Christmas Day). General admission is free. The Museum and Art Gallery are both open until 5pm for the month of January.
Museum parking is available at the Launceston City Council's Inveresk Car Park. Art Gallery parking is available at the Launceston City Council's Paterson Street West Car Park. For information click here.
Catch the Tiger
A Launceston City Council Sustainable Transport Strategy initiative, the free Tiger Bus is available throughout the day to provide easy access to the QVMAG Museum, Art Gallery and Planetarium and other Launceston City Council attractions. Backpacks, large bags and umbrellas are to be cloaked. Full cloaking facilities are available from the visitor information desk. Lockers are also available.
Food and Drink
No food or drink* is permitted in Museum and Art Gallery exhibitions except in the Art Gallery and Museum cafes.
*With the exception of water bottles, which are able to be taken into gallery spaces.
Art Gallery Guided Tours
Volunteer Gallery guides provide free tours of the Art Gallery at 1pm on Fridays, and 11.30am on Sundays. The tour showcases our unique collection of Colonial Art on display that is of national historic significance. Meet your guide at the information desk - bookings not required.
Museum Guided Tours
Volunteer Museum Guides provide free site tours on Sundays at 1pm. The highlights tour focuses on the historical significance of the site to Launceston as a Railway Workshop and changes that occurred during World War II. Meet your guide at the information desk in the Museum foyer - bookings not required.
Six (6) parking bays, marked for disability access, are available adjacent to the front entry portal of the QVMAG Museum at Inveresk. The car park is flat and access to the Museum's front door is level with entry to this car park off Invermay Road, Inveresk.
A wheelchair is available at both Museum and Art Gallery sites for use by visitors. Please enquire at the visitor information desk on arrival. Booking a wheelchair in advance of your visit is advised by calling 03 6323 3777.
The QVMAG Museum and Art Gallery have accessible toilets. Please enquire at the visitor information desk at either site.
Lift access is available to level one exhibitions at the Art Gallery and exhibitions at the Museum on the mezzanine of the John Lees Atrium. Guide dogs are welcome at both sites. See Website accessibility.
A Parent's room is located at both the QVMAG Museum and Art Gallery. Children under 12 years of age must be supervised by a responsible person over 16 years of age at all times.
